COX is on the move again<\/h1>\n

So, recently COX has announced the plan to go \u201cALL DIGITAL.\u201d What this means is that you HAVE to have a COX converter in order to use COX service.<\/p>\n

What does this mean to you?<\/p>\n

If you have a regular expensive all-COX system, it means very little.\u00a0 They are even giving you the box for free for the next two years.\u00a0 You need a COX Mini Box and ANOTHER remote control, but they you will be up and running.<\/p>\n

If you are like me, and have a cobbled system, it could mean problems.<\/p>\n

In my case, we have a TiVo Series 2 and Series 3 box.<\/p>\n

The Series 2 is simply too old, and we will have to simply use a digital antennae to get programming for that box.<\/p>\n

The tech was a bit worried about the Series 3 box, but it came through relatively unscathed.\u00a0 We needed some kind of Cable Card inserted into the TiVo box.\u00a0 It went through about 5 hours of updates, and then APPEARED to not work.\u00a0 The tech scheduled a follow-up visit to use some equipment he did not have.<\/p>\n

A few hours after he had left though, all the electronic handshaking had completed and we had COMPLETE programming.\u00a0 Unfortunately, it eventually resolved itself to the channels available through the standard Basic Cable package, but that\u2019s OK.\u00a0 That is what we wanted in the first place.<\/p>\n

Some of the blogs say that TiVo Series 3 is not compatible.\u00a0 That is bull crap.\u00a0 It IS COMPATIBLE.<\/p>\n

Good luck though.\u00a0 It was a challenge getting it all worked out, but it is now working just fine.<\/p>\n
